How To Correctly Frame Your Impact Posters Gallery Poster

So, you just bought this awesome poster for yourself, or a loved one, and plan to hang it in the perfect place. Do you just tape it up to the wall? NO! Not if you want it to last, at least. You should always frame your posters. Framing your poster is a perfect way to protect it from deterioration or damage over time. It also adds a more formal touch to it. There are factors, though, when framing your poster. We have put together a step-by-step process that you should consider when framing your poster.

First, you want to choose the right frame. A bolder frame might go perfect with a simpler, less colorful poster. Whereas, a simple frame may go better with a very exciting, busy poster. You should choose a frame with a higher-quality Plexiglas. Using a frame with regular glass runs the risk that it breaks and severely damages your poster. A good type of Plexiglas to consider is Acrylite OP-3 that is 1/8 inch (0.31 cm) thick. Choosing the right frame does not have to be expensive. Check out your local thrift store to see what they have for larger frames.

With the next step, you will have to consider if you want to use a mat or not. A mat is not always necessary, but can add a nice touch to it if you choose to. For example, you may not want a mat to frame a vintage poster or a classic work of art, but it is entirely up to you. If you do use a mat, you’ll need to choose the right one. They come in a variety of colors and sizes, so you’ll want to match the color with the general tone of the poster. You should also remember to choose a frame that is larger than the mat, if you plan to use one.

Finally, you will want to be sure you have a nice protective backing for your frame. Once you do, you can put your poster into the frame and seal it. Next, you’ll want to decide where to put the poster. You’ll need to measure the poster before deciding this. So, get a tape measure to determine the length, width, and thickness of it before you are set on any decisions. Once you have the measurements, you should test out a few different locations to hang it. Maybe have a friend help you decide by having them stand back to look at it, while you hold it in place.

Once you have found the perfect spot, you can grab the hammer and nails. Mark on the wall with a pencil where the nail should line up with the metal piece on the frame. Hammer the nail lightly into that spot, and hang your poster!
